| Oratory community seeking a fifth member The four members of the Oratory of St Alphege (St Alphege Clergy House, Pocock Street, SE1 OBJ) are seeking a new member to join them for a period of at least three months. They are looking for a woman who is interested in having an experience of Christian community living, with a Franciscan ethos, sharing in the prayer life as well as the ordinary tasks of living together. She will be able to make a financial contribution towards her cost of living and be willing to share in the house ministry of hospitality in a spacious Diocesan house in a quiet, safe neighbourhood, accessible to public transport and the vibrant South Bank. We will discuss organic fruit and vegetable growing; and the LOAF principles (food which is Locally produced, Organically grown, Animal friendly and Fairly traded) and food preserving. On Sunday, after morning Eucharist, we will share experiences and insights on what we can do in earth inclusive discipleship as we return to our home community. Dr Edward Echlin is an eco-theologian, an Honorary Research Fellow at Trinity & All Saints, Leeds, and at Sarum, Salisbury. He formerly lectured at John Carroll University, Ushaw College, and Lincoln Theological College. He grows fruit and vegetables organically in East Sussex. During this weekend we will explore ways in which attention to the qualities and shifts of light, atmosphere, weather and place can be a starting point for poetry. We will be looking at poems as well as writing them and thinking about how to embody feeling in a language which stays close to observation.
